If you’re still daydreaming of how great it would be to have a website designed for your business, project or organization, you really should take a seat and calmly read through this piece.
Let me guess. You’re most likely one of those who still think a website is merely one of those things that would be “nice” to have. In this day and age. You really, really do need to wake up and smell the coffee. Yep! Go ahead and take a deep, deep breath. This short piece is meant to bring just one point regarding how urgent this is, but you might want to start from an earlier piece – 7 reasons Why you Need a Website.
So whats the hurry? Why is it urgent you get a website?
First things first.
I’m a big believer in the idea that a good website ought to prove itself a valuable investment by being able to generate business leads naturally. In other words, my website should be visible enough in the search engines (mainly Google, of course) as to be found by customers searching for my services (or products) in their area. I should be getting, however little, a steady stream of people who contact me, interested in my services, through my website, without any outright paid advertisement. Makes sense? I think it does.
With that on the table, I can now make my point, which is, if you do not already have one, you’re seriously hurting whatever chances your future website will ever have in generating leads by itself. This is because one of the major factors considered by Google in ranking similar websites, is age. AGE. Note that this is only one of other factors, but one you sure can do something about, unlike some other factors.
The logic is simple. When Google looks at two competing, similar websites, it will rank the older of the two higher, all other factors being equal.
So waiting until later to have your website designed isn’t a very bright idea, if you plan on having reasonable return on investment. You do not need to have that online Disneyland you’ve always dreamed of from the start, but you do need to get online really fast, like yesterday.
